The Lower School has a talent show on Wednesday, March 13 at 1 PM. The stage must be completely cleared by then, if not earlier. With everyone helping we should be able to get this accomplished quickly. Part of being a cast member is to help take down the scenery for any show. Please contribute to that effort whenever you are free. Thank you so much!

Sorry for the typo in the last post!!

If it’s Thursday, it must be a scenic construction day!  If you have time after school and waiting for choreography to start at 6:30, please come help with scenery.  The bed has taken a lot of time to design, through trial and error, and therefore has set me back with other construction.  I would like to be finished by the end of Labor Day, so that we can start decorating and clearing the shop and wings.  My daughter is past her due date, and her baby could arrive at any time, so if I am not there, that is the reason.  It is also causing me to really, really push to get done.  Any help is REALLY appreciated!!  Thank you!

If you are waiting for rehearsal at 6 PM and have nothing to do this afternoon, I will be working on scenery on stage today.  We have had a few cast members and staff  show up to work here and there which has been INCREDIBLY helpful! I really, really want to thank Jack, Owen, and especially, Fox, Hazel, Lilli and Melissa Schweitzer for your help in ensuring the success of the show!  None of this is complicated, and you do not need to know how to use power tools (You will get training!).  I get to a stopping point because things are too heavy to move by myself, so having two or three people around is great!  I really like how these Thursdays and some free stage afternoons are working because it means that we do not have to devote a weekend to construction, but we will still have the scenery ready for all out rehearsals and blocking that will begin any day now.

Madalyn Mead, Lilli Schweitzer, and Riley Talmadge are in the scenic construction class during C period.  They will be working on the more complicated scenery pieces,  like the bed, scenic decoration, and stage props. Please thank them as well!!

Our cyclorama is being installed on Monday and Tuesday of next week!  This will be a very exciting addition to our lighting  capabilities!

The line learning app for MAMMA MIA just got approval from MTI!! The cost is $1.99.  The line learning app is limited to 20 cast members, so if you are in the ensemble and have no speaking parts, please do not purchase this app.  Also, please set up an account on StagePro.com.  This will allow you to access all the technical information about the show.  From the software developer, Randy Threewits:

Welcome to MyLines, the line memorization app! This app will make your role in the upcoming production of Mamma Mia! easier to memorize. You’ll be able to add notes to your script and get communications from your theatre about blocking and rehearsals. Let’s get started!

1. Download the MyLines app on your phone or tablet. It’s available at the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.
2. On the lower part of the left menu, choose Sign In. Create an account with a user name and password.
3. From the left menu, choose Download Script. Then choose ACTIVATE, and put in your activation code   WSN837269 . When you see the script Mamma Mia! on your page, select it and choose DOWNLOAD.
4. From the left menu, choose Select Script. Select Mamma Mia! and you’re ready to begin!

I will be working on finishing scenery construction tomorrow, Thursday, August 16 from noon until choreography rehearsal starts at 6:30, at the latest, just depending on how much help that I get during the day.  There are little jobs to be done that require lifting by more than one person, so I am at a bit of a stopping point.  Free periods, 2nd AP, after school before choreography starts will all be helpful.  This is not constant work, so you can be working on homework or class work in the Bishop Center, as you are waiting for me to give you a task. This is a “drop-in-when-you-can” afternoon that saves us all from working on the weekend!!  15-30 minutes here and there really add up!!  We are really close to having construction finished so that we can start the transformation to our island in Greece!!  Thank you so much!!

We are working with a software package called Stage Pro for MAMMA MIA.  It will allow us to input information in a central location during rehearsals such as contact lists, sign in, props, notes, blocking, etc.  This is mainly for use by the director, stage manager, and staff to access information from one platform versus email.

One of the services that is available to you through Stage Pro is the MyLines app.  The information is below.  If you are interested, they are loading the MAMMA MIA script now, which will take a couple of weeks because the rights to the show were just released, and they do not have it preloaded.  The app is $9, and it was suggested that if you have only two or three lines, you do not need the app.  It is mainly for leads and supporting roles.  There is absolutely no obligation to purchase this app.  Just wanted you to know that it is available as an option for you.

There will be tech support for all of this through Randy Threewits, the software developer.

Today, we will be deconstructing and repurposing some of the mobile units that we have on stage.  Again, please wear appropriate clothing for moving heavy pieces of scenery and getting dirty.

Just to give you an update on progress so far.

Since there is no camp the week of July 4, I rented a scissor lift, and Adam Baranowski worked on readjusting lights and replacing burned out bulbs, while I worked on clearing the backstage of lumber that we no longer need. I have gifted a cyclorama (a very large white drape that hangs near the back wall to using as lighting for skies, evenings, etc)  to Webb, and we were hoping to have maintenance hang the pipe from the ceiling that it will go on while we had the scissor lift.  Maintenance was too slammed with cleaning carpets in offices while the campus was free from campers to get that done.  We have rescheduled that for Wednesday, August 1.

Last week, I also broke down the two large towers to get them ready for the MAMMA MIA balconies.  What I would like to accomplish this week are building the bed unit, reconfiguring the stair unit from LEGALLY BLONDE for the bar, striking the 10-foot stair platform from CHICAGO, and cutting the large door unit by the overhead door in half to make smaller door units.  This will be a pretty big operation, generating a lot of sawdust, so it will be done outside.

Large groups of people are not necessary, but 4-5 would be great!  Thank you for all your help getting your scenery ready for rehearsals!
